You know how a lot of people are unhappy with Mayor Bloomberg's choice of Hearst exec Cathie Black to run the Department of Education? Especially how she only was able to get the job after being given a special waiver? Yeah, well, parents weren't the only ones pissed off at the secretive process. A bill heading to the State Assembly next year would require City Council hearings for any future chancellors. It joins another bill on the docket that would require any future waivers to be approved by the Legislature... just the thought of which almost makes us approve of how Bloomberg went about things this time. Almost.
