A bicyclist in Brooklyn who witnesses say was in a bike lane before being rear-ended by a driver on Friday morning died from his injuries.

Ronald James Burke, 32, died at Kings County Hospital after being found in Bushwick, near Central Avenue and Linden Street, with trauma to his head and body.

A witness told DNAinfo, "He was bleeding from the back of his head. He can't move. He was breathing heavily."

According to NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad's preliminary investigation, a 2005 Acura going south on Central Avenue with a green light hit Burke who was going east on Linden Street.

However, witnesses said that Burke was biking in the Central Avenue bike lane and was rear-ended by the driver. NYPD narratives of bicyclist fatalities are not necessarily always accurate.

The Acura's driver stayed until EMS arrived but fled before police arrived at the scene.
