Bernie Madoff suffered a heart attack in prison last month and was temporarily transferred out of prison for hospital treatment, according to reports.

The notorious Ponzi scheme architect is serving a 150-year sentence in a North Carolina federal prison, and it seems his few years there thus far have been plagued with health woes. According to CNBC, the 75-year-old is also suffering from stage IV kidney cancer, though he told the network he wasn't undergoing dialysis.

Both Madoff's former attorney, Ira Lee Sorkin, and the Bureau of Prisons refused to comment. Madoff's 47-year-old son, Andrew Madoff, is also battling stage IV cancer.
