The beetles are coming for us! According to the Daily News just under 10,000 traps are being set in the state to catch emerald ash borer beetles, which are killing our ash trees! While a Parks Department rep says "We do not plant ash trees [in the city] anymore because of the impending threat of the borer," about 4% of our tree population are ash trees. Parks workers are currently checking trees for signs of the beetle, as a Department of Environmental Conservation rep says, "We are suspicious that it may be coming into New York City environments." Maybe the rats can eat them?
