Investigators believe an unidentified man fatally shot his girlfriend in Bed-Stuy just after midnight Wednesday and then turned the gun on himself. First responders found a 38-year-old woman and 41-year-old man unconscious with gunshot wounds to their heads in an apartment inside 745 Gates Avenue, near the corner of Lewis Avenue. Sources told the Daily News the two had been in a relationship, and officers are investigating the incident as a murder-suicide.
The NYPD responded to a 911 call of a woman shot at the apartment at 12:07 a.m. this morning. Emergency medical responders pronounced both people dead at the scene, and police confirmed that a gun was recovered at the location. The female victim has been identified as Felicita Sotillo, who lived inside the apartment. The 41-year-old man's identity remains unconfirmed.
Police told Pix11 they believe the man shot Sotillo before turning the gun on himself. No arrests have been made in connection with the two shooting deaths.
A man on the street near the residence was seen being comforted by several others early this morning, as he reportedly asked, "Can I see my mother?” over and over.
