The NYPD says an ATV rider assaulted another man in Staten Island on Sunday afternoon after the victim tried to stop the rider and his buddies from entering a park.

The alleged attack happened around 3:20 p.m. Sunday, near 7455 Hylan Boulevard in Tottenville. According to authorities, the 62-year-old victim attempted to stop the suspect, who is believed to be in his 20s, from entering a park.

But police say the suspect then struck the victim, who is not employed by the city's Parks Department, several times in the head and torso, before fleeing with several other ATV riders.

The victim was taken to Staten Island University North Hospital and treated for broken ribs, swelling and lacerations to his face; the NYPD is still searching for the suspect.

Sunday's attack isn't the first violent attack involving motorcyclists this year: September saw the brutal, high profile motorcycle gang attack on SUV driver Alexian Lien.
