An Astoria woman was allegedly raped by a neighbor on Wednesday morning after he climbed in her window and attacked her at knife point—a pattern that may have been occurring for the past several years.
The 22-year-old victim told police she was awoken around 5 a.m. to a man, identified as 30-year-old Andres Santana, pressing a knife to her back before proceeding to rape her vaginally and anally. According to reports, she hit the attacker with a remote control, the scuffle eventually awaking the victim's father, who allegedly fought Santana off until he leaped, unclothed, out the window.
Santana has been charged with rape, criminal sex act, burglary, menacing and criminal mischief, police said.
Police sources tell Metro and ABC 7 that the victim says Santana has been climbing through her window and raping her since she was 14 or 15-years-old, though police are unable to confirm the allegation.
