Earlier this week, a woman was fatally shot when she was caught in the middle of afternoon crossfire in the Bronx. Aisha Santiago, 25, had been on her way to the laundromat with her 9-year-old son and managed to push him out the gunfire. Now, a man has been arrested and charged with her murder.

Daily News reports that Jose Diaz, 25, was charged with second-degree murder and is being held without bail. According to the Bronx DA's office, Diaz was "aiming at a 16-year-old on Sept. 22 in Mott Haven when he accidentally hit Santiago." His "intended target, Robert Vargas, a junior at Taft High School, was arraigned early Friday morning on a lesser charge of attempted murder for hitting a third man involved in the shootout in the leg."

Right after the shooting, Santiago's sister had a message for the shooters, "I hope you son of b----es get caught. You not only took away my sister, you took away my mother's youngest child. I hope you are prosecuted to the fullest extent and get whatever you deserve."
