Just one mile from the spot where 15-year-old Vada Vasquez was shot in the head by a stray bullet, a 16-year-old girl was caught in the crossfire after a Bronx house party, the Post reports.

Victim Angelica Bermudez was outside a building on Hughes Avenue near East 179th Street in Tremont just after midnight when she was shot once in the chest. A witness tells the paper he saw about 40 kids dash away from the corner after at least three shots were fired. Details about the shooting remain scarce — the Daily News reports Bermudez was struck in the back, not the chest, after gunplay broke out between two rival groups of teens, and it's unclear whether or not she was the intended target. Bermudez is listed in stable condition at St. Barnabas Hospital. The victim's mother, Victoria Matta, had this to say: "We're all just thankful she's alive."
