It's that time of year again! The time of year where the Department of Agriculture rounds up and kills several hundred geese, that is, this time from the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge.

The geese have been culled since 2009 in an effort to keep them from flying into air craft, which, as you recall, tends to happen. But animal lovers around the city are rallying in protest, arguing that the real solution "is for the City to make the area around airports unattractive to birds, and to use humane methods to scare and displace the ones that are already there,” Ken Paskar, President of Friends of LaGuardia Airport, wrote in a press release.

GooseWatch NYC is not happy about this development. The group posted brief video in hot pursuit of the truck containing the geese, but were unable to determine where the animals were being taken.

According to the Epoch Times, there have been 78 reported Canada goose strikes between 1999 and 2008 at New York airports.
