2006_10_allentown.gifWhat does $30 million in state funds bring Allentown, Pennsylvania? A plan to be a "Wall Street West" for the financial service industry in case of a terrorist attack. Pennsylvania wants Wall Street to put their "back operations" in Allentown, because 86 miles from NYC is a safe distance, in case anything crazy should happen. Oh, and because nine counties can be wired with enough fiber optic lines to be attractive enough for the big companies. It's unclear whether or not this idea has legs, but if there are subsidies, maybe firms will head out there - if not for Wall Street West, but for Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom!

We thought Wall Street West was Jersey City, but here's the Wall Street West website.
