A man was fatally struck by a subway train this morning after he reportedly attempted to climb on top of a moving Coney Island-bound F train. According to police, the unidentified man was found lying dead on the subway tracks at the Fourth Avenue/Ninth Street station in Park Slope shortly after 5 a.m.
An initial NYPD investigation found that the man had been moving between subway cars and likely attempted to get on top of one when he was struck and killed. Officers found the man dead at the scene at 5:12 a.m. Wednesday, according to an NYPD spokesperson.
Shortly, after 6 a.m., NYC Transit tweeted about delays due to a police investigation at the station. The Daily News reports that F and G trains were bypassing the station early Wednesday morning while police conducted an investigation, but according to a police spokesperson, service has resumed with residual delays. The MTA did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
