In contrast to the mid-summer temperatures of the last couple of days, a back door cold front that pushed through town just after midnight last night has ushered in a dose of early spring weather today. Technically, today’s high will be near 70 degrees, but that happened at midnight. The mercury is only going to crawl into the lower 60s under overcast skies this afternoon. There is a slight chance of rain out of those clouds but nothing too serious is expected.

The arrival of a weak high pressure system promises a slight improvement tomorrow. Look for a mix of sun and clouds and a high in the upper 60s. Let’s hope there is more sun that clouds around sunset tomorrow because it’s time for Manhattanhenge! The half-sun on the grid sunset is tomorrow at 8:16 and the full-sun on the grid sunset is Friday at 8:18 p.m. Friday’s viewing may be spoiled by clouds and showers popping up ahead of the next cold front.

Friday’s cold front passage should set us up for a pretty nice weekend. High pressure will be in control and we should see generally clear skies with highs in the lower to mid 70s on both Saturday and Sunday. Warmer weather is expected to return early next week.
