Have you guys heard about the Adderall crisis sweeping the city? Wait, no, did you see the last episode of Oprah yesterday? No? Bummer. Ok, no, really though, I don't know if you've tried to get your speed lately, but it's really hard to find! Even if you have a prescription for it! We're in the grips of an Adderall shortage across the nation, and it's wreaking havoc on doctors, pharmacies, students, graphic designers, and actual sufferers of ADD all over the city.
What's going on is that Adderall XR, a general brand of Adderall made by Shire Pharmaceuticals, has been low on production numbers for the past few months. Last month, the FDA placed the XR on its list of drugs in shortage. Now, pharmacies around the city are running out of the drug, and patients with legit prescriptions are either left with a huge co-pay fee or high and dry altogether. "I had a horror of a time filling my last scrip," one patient told The Observer. "Duane Reade and CVS are both fucked citywide."
