The body of Newtown shooter Adam Lanza has been claimed for burial by Lanza's father, according to a spokesman for the family.

Peter Lanza, who released a statement after the shooting saying he was in "a state of disbelief," claimed his 20-year-old son's body from the Connecticut medical examiner's office sometime this weekend, and will be arranging for a secret burial.
Lanza's mother Nancy, who was the first of the seven adults and 20 children Lanza fatally shot before turning a gun on himself, was buried a few days after the December 14th massacre. Peter and Nancy Lanza were divorced, and lived separately.

Connecticut State Medical Examiner H. Wayne Carver II says he requested that University of Connecticut scientists study Lanza's DNA in hopes of finding evidence of a mutation or other clue that might help explain his actions.
