First, the good news. A weak cold front sunk south across the city early this morning and the flat high pressure system pushing that front is bringing mild, dry air to region today. This afternoon is going to be sunny with a high in the lower 80s.

Now the bad news. The high pressure system overhead today is going to have a hard time holding off a storm moving up from the south. This isn't a major storm, but it is kind of a bummer for the Fourth of July. We can expect cloudy skies and a good chance of light rain or showers in the afternoon. With the thick clouds and an east wind Saturday's high will only reach the mid 70s. The partially redemptive news is that the rain should end and the skies will begin to clear after sunset.

Back to the good news. Clear skies should return on Sunday following the passage of the storm. Sunday's high should also bounce back to the lower 80s. Monday's weather should be much the same, albeit a bit more humid. Beyond that next week is looking like summer with highs in the mid 80s and a chance of showers or thunderstorms each day.
