We thought grumpy New Yorkers had moved beyond complaining about Citi Bikes to taking pity upon Citi Bikes, but perhaps not: a fecal fiend was caught on surveillance camera smearing poop onto the seats of every Citi Bike locked in a docking station in midtown Manhattan early Friday morning.
According to the News, the Citi Crapper struck around 1:25 a.m. Friday at the docking station on W. 45th Street near 8th Avenue. A local building super noticed the ablutions around 8:30 a.m. that morning, and they were removed later that day. It may have been too late for some unsuspecting riders though: “Some people have taken the bikes without knowing the seats are dirty,” the super told the News.
This isn't the first time someone has let their shit do their shit-talking for them: someone left poop on a Citi Bike station in the East Village a week before the program launched last year. A spokeswoman for NYC Bike Share said that they believe this was an isolated incident. It's unclear whether they have any leads on the turd donator, but we can think of at least one prime suspect.
