The FDNY safely evacuated 94 people from a tour boat on the East River this morning after a fire broke out in its engine room. The boat was in the water near Governors Island at the time of the incident.

A spokesperson with the FDNY told Gothamist they received a call at 11:30 a.m. alerting them to the engine room fire. They responded and knocked the fire down, the spokesperson said, after evacuating all the passengers and crew from the boat. There were no injuries, and the operation is still ongoing, according to the FDNY.

CBS 2 reports the tour boat was dubbed "The Jewel," and that passengers wearing life preservers were taken by boat vessels to a nearby pier.

We will update if more information becomes available.
