A 91-year-old cashier at the East Northport Rite Aid was back at work today after being attacked by a robber yesterday. Florence Critelli, who tried to fight him off, told the Post, "I want him to get caught because I want to smack him."
Critelli was giving a man change for his candy purchase yesterday morning when he reached over to take the cash register's bounty. According to Newsday (subscription required), "Critelli says she put her hand on top of his in an attempt to stop him. That's when the suspect punched Critelli in the chest and ran out of the store with cash, police said."
Critelli, who finished the rest of her shift (she works seven hours a day, five days a week), told News 12, "I was a little shook up and that's about it. I regret that I didn't hit him in the head. I had the scanner right there." Maybe the cops, when they catch the guy, will give her that chance!
