An elderly woman was beaten yesterday during a broad daylight attempted robbery in Manhattan.

2016_09_gvrobbery.jpgThe incident occurred at noon near 5th Avenue and 12th Street in Greenwich Village: According to the NYPD, the suspect "approached the 90 year-old female victim from behind and tried to snatch her duffle bag from the front of her utility cart. When the victim tried to prevent the individual from taking her bag, the female knocked her down to the ground and continued to pull at the bag."

The victim managed to keep her bag, and the suspect fled east on East 12th Street. The senior citizen was taken to Mount Sinai Beth Israel with lacerations to her right arm and right middle finger.

The suspect (photo at right), is described as female and having a tattoo on her left arm; she was last seen wearing a black tank top, red pants, black shoes while carrying a black purse.
