A man was caught on video attacking a 90-year-old man for seemingly no reason in Inwood on Friday, and police are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect.
Cops say that just before 6 p.m. yesterday on Broadway near West 204th Street in Inwood, an unidentified man suddenly kicked at a 90-year-old man's shopping cart and then hit him in the head with a cane. The assault, which was captured on the video below, was only stopped because of the intervention of good Samaritans who stopped the suspect from doing further damage.
The attacker then fled the scene, while the 90-year-old man was taken to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital with head and ear injuries, in serious but stable condition.
The suspect is described as between 20 and 30 years old, 5'9" to 5'10" and 150lbs, and was last seen wearing a blue baseball cap, a black shirt, a gray long sleeved shirt, blue pants with checker box print black sneakers and headphones.
