An elderly woman was struck and killed by an MTA bus this morning in East New York. Police say that 82-year-old Lyubov Angert was crossing Seaview Avenue at around 6:40 a.m., when an empty MTA bus, traveling east on Seaview, made a left turn onto Pennsylvania Avenue, striking Angert, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The operator of the bus remained at the scene, and police are still investigating the incident. An MTA spokesman said the agency was investigating the crash. Witnesses told NY1 that after striking Angert, the bus driver exited the vehicle and "was crying inconsolably, and no one could stop her."
