A driver fled the scene after hitting an 8-year-old girl with their car on Saturday evening, leaving her with a head injury.

Cops say that at about 5:30 p.m. yesterday evening, the driver of a "red four door Honda" was going south on East 31st Street in Marine Park when they struck an 8-year-old girl who was crossing the street near the corner of East 31st and Avenue P. The driver left the scene, while the girl suffered head trauma and was taken to Maimonedes Hospital for treatment.

Police told PIX11 that the girl was hit the front passenger side wheel, and that the car's front headlight was damaged as a result. In addition, PIX11 identified the car as a red Honda Accord.

Neighbors told the News that the child was named Hadassah Kaslov. A witness told the paper that he saw "a lot of blood coming from her head." Another neighborhood resident voiced frustration with the amount of cars that come speeding through the neighborhood, and suggested the street needs speed bumps.

"Our next reaction after the shock passes is we need to put speed bumps on the block. People always speed through here," she told the paper.
