A 71-year-old man was struck by a southbound 1 train pulling into the 86th Street station early this morning, and survived. He was reportedly struck by four train cars, but suffered only minor injuries.

According to an MTA spokesman, the 1 train pulled into the 86th Street station near Broadway at 4:55 a.m.

AM New York reports that, according to MTA sources, the train's motorman saw the victim jump in front of his train, and hit the emergency brakes. However, an NYPD spokesperson says it is still unclear if the man fell or jumped. According to the tabloid, four cars "went over" the victim. He was removed to St. Luke's Hospital at 5:28 a.m. with minor injuries.
