It isn't just bicyclists who need to be careful on the mean streets of New York, skaters need to be wary, too. Especially at intersections. This morning a 68-year-old woman riding her roller skates down the path along the West Side Highway was struck and run over by an M42 bus. She is currently in critical condition at Bellevue.
The accident occurred at 8:09 a.m. as an M42 bus was entering the terminus at 43rd Street and 12th Avenue. According to the MTA the woman was knocked down and the bus's front right tire ran over her leg.
