A 5-year-old boy accompanying his mother to the deli was shot in the leg in the Bronx. The pair, who just bought milk, were walking on Allerton Avenue at 10 p.m. and apparently got caught in gang crossfire.

A witness told the Post, "Two groups... kids with guns, have been going at it for a week... And what happens? A 5-year-old gets shot." According to the witness, "one of the factions was kids from the neighborhood, the other from the Pelham Parkway Houses."

The cops say that the boy, who is in serious but stable condition at Jacobi Medical Center, was not the target. There have been no arrests, but the investigation is continuing.
