A 5-year-old girl was shot in front of her apartment in the Bronx early this morning. Little Haley Dominguez was shot in the stomach around 1 a.m. this morning outside her family’s apartment building on Hughes Avenue in East Tremont. Haley, her mother and older brother were all returning from a baby shower. "They were coming out of the taxi and a guy was shooting and the little girl was hit," neighbor Jose Gonzalez told the News. "I heard two shots and I stayed inside, I didn't see who did the shooting.”

Some neighbors told ABC that they believe Haley was caught in crossfire. Haley was initially taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, then later moved to Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital in Washington Heights. She is now in stable condition, and expected to make a full recovery. "I don't know why this happened," her father, Jonathan Dominguez, said. "She's going to be okay, thank God." Police are still investigating the shooting, and no arrests have been made.
