Earlier this morning, police say that a driver jumped a curb on the Upper West Side, striking a four-year-old and her grandmother and pinning them to a building. The girl, who went into cardiac arrest and was taken to St. Luke's Hospital, has died. The grandmother is there in serious condition.

According to WABC 7, "The teen driver of the vehicle apparently refused to pull over for cops after a collision in the intersection."

The Post reports, "A teen driving a black Nissan Frontier plowed into a 3-year-old girl and her mom about 8:20 a.m. on 97th Street and Amsterdam Avenue while trying to escape the police, witnesses said... 'He sped up to get away from the police — that’s when he hit the lady and the child,' said one witness."

The driver is in custody.
