A five-year-old boy who was struck by a SUV in August has finally returned home from the hospital. Joshua Saunders was chasing a ball into East 214th Street outside his home when an allegedly speeding vehicle hit him, breaking his legs, arm, and some ribs and puncturing his lungs. According to WABC 7, doctors weren't sure if he wasn't going to make it, "But he's recovered so well that he was released from the hospital Thursday and showered with gifts, including a new bike."

Witnesses say the driver never stopped. Saunders' father told the Daily News at the time that the driver is a "coward and a maniac... I want them to come forward and be responsible for what they've done to my son."
