An SUV driver struck and killed a three-year-old girl in Flushing yesterday as she crossed the street with her grandmother. According to an NYPD statement, at around 5:36 p.m. Allison Liao was crossing Main Street at the intersection of Cherry Avenue when she was hit by the unidentified motorist turning left on Main Street. Investigators say that Liao and her grandmother were crossing with the green light and had the right-of-way.

“I saw the grandmother carrying the little child, she was screaming and shaking her,” a witness told the Post. Another man, who had served 10 years in the Army, gave Liao CPR to no avail. Liao was transported to Booth Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver remained at the scene. An NYPD spokesman confirmed that no charges have been filed and that the investigation is ongoing.
