Authorities say a 3-year-old girl was killed in Central Harlem yesterday evening after getting trapped in a sofa bed that snapped shut suddenly.

According to police officers, Aissante Diallo and her 10-year-old sister were playing together on or near a fold-out bed at their parents' home on West 140th Street near Eighth Ave in Harlem; at close to 6 p.m., the bed folded up and trapped her inside. Cops say the sister managed to escape unharmed, but Diallo suffocated and was pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made and cops are still investigating the incident, though sources say officers did question Diallo's parents.

It's not entirely uncommon for small children to get trapped in fold-out beds; in 2011, for instance, a 7-year-old boy in Naples, Fl. had to be rescued by firefighters when he got stuck in a sofa bed.
