Three people were critically injured by motorists in separate incidents while trying to cross streets in Brooklyn and Queens last night. One man was seriously injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Woodside, and an elderly couple are in critical condition after being struck by a driver in Coney Island.

The elderly couple, who are both 87, were crossing Surf Avenue near W. 27 Street in Coney Island around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday. They were taken to Lutheran Medical Center, where they are listed in critical condition. It's not clear whether they had the light, and the driver remained at the scene; no charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.

The next incident happened when a man, believed to be in his 20s or 30s, was attempting to cross Queens Boulevard at 60th Street in Woodside around 1:30 a.m. this morning. He was struck by an SUV driver headed westbound on Queens Boulevard, who then fled the scene. The victim was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition.

No arrests have been made, and police are looking for the driver of the dark SUV. CBS adds that the Queens intersection has been the location of several pedestrian deaths in recent years.
