A 24-year-old man was shot in the eye in a Brooklyn playground last night around 7:50 p.m. in the Evergreen Playground basketball court on Schaefer Street in Bushwick. And according to A Walk In The Park, the shooting occurred because the victim allegedly insulted the shooter's height.

Witnesses told them that the shooter became enraged when the victim referred to him as "shorty." The assailant left and returned a short time later with a gun. The shooter fled the scene, and no arrests have been made yet. This is the second shooting in the area in the last week: on Monday, three-year-old Isaiah Rivera was hit by a stray bullet just down the block. Two people have since been arrested for that shooting.

Parents and locals complained about the increase of shooting in the neighborhood: “This park was crowded with young people," Community activist Tony Herbert told CBS. "I’ve got a 9-year-old that is traumatically shook by this and we’ve got to provide counseling for him because it’s not the first time that he was in this park and had to run out of here.”
