Everything wasn't just fun times in the West Village after last Sunday's Pride parade, it seems. As DNAinfo first reported, a 21-year-old woman claims that she was raped in the bathroom of a popular Christopher Street piano bar hours after the parade passed by.

According to police, the woman says she was attacked and sexually assaulted by a black man in the bathroom of Duplex at 61 Christopher Street around 12:30 a.m.. Police say they are investigating security tapes, but that no arrests have been made and that they have no other information to provide at the moment. Nobody answered the phone at Duplex when we called this morning.

According to NYPD statistics [PDF] the 6th Precinct, which includes the West Village, "had seven reported rapes this year through June 11, the same as last year within the same period." However, for well over a year now local business owners have been quite vocal about the increase in violent activities in the area. "We've got drug dealers, we've got gangs out here. We're losing Christopher Street," one owner said last year.
