A Forest Hills woman found her newborn daughter dead in her stroller in a park near her home yesterday afternoon, police said. Officers responded to a call of an unconscious infant at Hawthorne Park, a private park in the Forest Hills Gardens subdivision, around 12:30 pm. There they said they found 10-week-old Zoey Kaplan unresponsive.
The NY Post reports that the baby's feet were "ice cold" and that the baby had vomited. Paramedics transported her to North Shore Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, according to the NYPD.
The Daily News writes that there was no trauma to the baby's body and that foul play is not suspected.
The Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death. We'll update as more information becomes available.
