Yesterday morning, the body of a 34-year-old woman was found stuffed in a plastic bin that had been left outside of a Bronx apartment building. Soon after, police arrested her 16-year-old son for the fatal shooting.
A building super found Tihesha Savage's body, and police determined that Savage had been shot in the head. Neighbors gathered to see what the commotion was about, and Savage's son, Darwin Jackson, as well as her 7-year-old daughter, were present. Apparently Darwin spit when he saw the body and one neighbor told the Daily News, "I asked him what went on. He said he doesn’t know. He wasn’t crying. He was just mad. The little girl kept asking me, ‘Where is my mommy?’”
The News adds that Jackson was arrested "after video footage showed him dumping it on the street like trash." The teen was charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon.
The Post, which says there was a trail of blood from the building on Macombs Avenue to where the body was left, reports, "Jackson allegedly told cops he fired a shot at mom Tihesha Savage’s head and then hit her with a baseball bat following an argument over his late nights out." Neighbors told the Post that Savage was a good mother, but her son was difficult, saying, "I’d go past the apartment and hear them arguing back and forth, sometimes for staying out after his curfew, hanging out with the wrong crowd," and noting she "was always looking for her son. He is always in the streets giving her a hard time."
