The 16-year-old driver who crashed into a car, tree, fence and house, killing a 13-year-old passenger will be charged as an adult. Eric Hakimisefat only had a junior license, which does not allow him to drive without an adult, when he was driving in the Midwood section of Brooklyn on Sunday. It's believed he was going around 63 mph in the 30 mph zone.
Sarah Erdan died from her injuries while her 16-year-old brother Yosif suffered minor injuries. The girl was buried yesterday; at her funeral, a rabbi said Sarah "radiated the kind of beauty that reached and touched everyone who saw her." One of her yeshiva teachers told the Daily News, "I believe nothing is coincidence. The last thing she wrote from my class is the fact that we don't know why bad things happen to good people."
Hakimisefat, who also had minor injuries, was charged with criminally negligent homicide, reckless driving and speeding. He was released on $10,000 bail; his parents have not been charged yet.
