Fifteen children and an adult were injured after a firecracker was set off in a school bus in Brooklyn.

The Fire Department says that they received a call at 7:22 a.m. about a smoke condition on a bus at Ocean Avenue and Dorchester Road. Of the 16 injured, five were treated at the scene and 11 were taken to Coney Island and Kings County Hospitals. One (unclear if it was a child or an adult) was in serious condition.

The Department of Education says that the bus company claims a student set off the firecracker.
