On Monday night at 6:30 p.m., four teens were shot while at the basketball court in the Fish Playground on Fulton Street. Now, the police have arrested a 15-year-old boy for the latest bout of violence in Brownsville.

It was believed that the suspect had been on a bicycle when he opened fire, wounding two 16-year-old boys in their arms, a 13-year-old girl in her back and an 18-year-old man in his back. All were taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The suspect, who lives a few blocks from the shooting scene, was charged with four counts of attempted murder, four counts of criminal possession of a weapon and four counts of assault. The motive remains unknown.

Community activist Tony Herbert had said earlier this week, "This is ground zero. Brownsville has been the epitome of where the stupidity takes place. The community’s saying it’s gang related. The police don’t have to say that, folks are snitching, they…are giving up whatever information they can and I implore them to keep doing that."
