A Brooklyn teen is reportedly brain dead after being shot Wednesday night—one day after he graduated middle school. The 14-year-old victim has been identified as Akeal Christopher by the Post; he was walking home from a party with his cousin and six other friends in Bushwick just before 11 p.m. They were approached by two other teens on the corner of Jefferson Street and Evergreen Avenue. "I just heard four gun shots right in a row, pop, pop, pop, pop,'" witness Lupe Estrella told the News. "When I looked out my window, I saw a young man laying there. It looked almost like he was convulsing."
According to the Post, the two teens asked them if they were part of a local gang crew; Christopher began to run away from the suspects, but they fired at the group, shooting the boy in the cheek. Estrella, who is a former volunteer emergency medical technician, tried giving him CPR to no avail. “He had what looked like a bullet right in the center of his forehead,” she said. No arrests have been made yet.
