A 14-year-old girl was shot and killed aboard a Queens bus Saturday night. According to police, an unidentified shooter fired up to 10 shots at the Q6 bus as it made a stop on Sutphin Boulevard near 125th Avenue in Jamaica. At least one of the bullets struck the young victim in the head.
Daja Robinson was rushed to Jamaica Hospital around 9 p.m., where she was pronounced dead on arrival, police said. It is uncertain whether Robinson was the shooter's intended target, though the Daily News reports that "a group of teens were seen following the girl before shots were fired." Community groups are currently offering a $2,000 reward offered for information that leads to an arrest.
"It's not snitching, it's protecting our community," said NAACP Jamaica Branch President Leroy Gadsden during a press conference.
