A Bronx girl who was hiking with a church group in Whirlpool State Park in upstate slipped from a rock and fell into the Niagara River. Authorities are worried she may been swept away by the current into a whirlpool. A couple hiking behind the group saw the girl spoke to the media; the wife said, "We didn't see her fall in. I saw her when maybe she was about 10 feet in the water... I yelled to my husband to jump in and get her, but by the time I saw her again, she was about 20 feet out... At about 75 feet out she went under. It didn't look like she was trying to swim." The girl's friends told the Niagara Gazette she wasn't a good swimmer "at all."
