1010WINS news radio anchor Brian Carey was badly beaten in his Upper East Side apartment earlier this week. Carey, 52, was found by a neighbor in the lobby of his East 61st Street building around 11 p.m. Monday. He suffered a broken jaw, a deep cut on his head and facial fractures; he has been in intensive care at New York Presbyterian/ Weill Cornell Medical Center, and is apparently unable to speak.
According to the Post, police believe that Carey was beaten by an acquaintance in his apartment before he made it to the building’s lobby and collapsed. Source say Carey has ID'd his attacker, who stole his wallet and cell phone. “Brian is a treasured member of the 1010WINS family, and right now all of our focus is on helping him to recover,” said Ben Mevorach, the radio station’s news and programming director. No arrests have been made yet.
