Police are searching for a man who allegedly shot a 10-year-old boy and a 25-year-old man near the Coney Island waterfront last night.

According to cops, the incident happened just after 7 p.m. Saturday night near the intersection of Mermaid Avenue and West 24th Street. The 10-year-old, whom the News has identified as Eddie Abdelrahaman, was hit in his right knee, while the unidentified man suffered a gun shot wound to his abdomen. Both were rushed to Lutheran Hospital in Sunset Park in stable condition.

According to the News the boy and man were not together when they were shot. "It's terrible and it's unbelievable," the boy's uncle, Abdalla Abdelrahaman, told them. "Kids are not innocent or safe anymore...The police have to step up their patrol."

The NYPD says the male suspect was dressed in a yellow T-shirt, yellow shorts, white sneakers, and a multicolored baseball cap.
