One person was killed and two others are in critical condition after a driver slammed into a crowd on a Queens sidewalk following a fight in a banquet hall. Police say the incident happened around 8:30 p.m. outside the Vision Banquet Hall on Merrick Boulevard and 225th Street on Saturday.

Witnesses say that driver Kevin Weeks, 20, had been stabbed outside the banquet hall just prior to the incident. "It was vicious," witness Tasha Gresham told the News. "Something must have gone wrong inside the hall," another witness told the Post. "Young people started running into the street. They were running back and forth and screaming."

Police say that Weeks then got into his 2012 Nissan Altima and drove northbound on 225 Street; he mounted the curb and drove into a crowd of people, striking at least three people. Kevin Lewis, 20, was pinned under the vehicle; he suffered head and torso trauma, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Kiana Solomon, 19, suffered back and neck injuries, and Antoinette Green, 21, sustained head and leg injuries. Both were taken to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition. A witness told CBS one of the women appeared pregnant.

Weeks apparently fled the location on foot and was apprehended a short time thereafter. Cops are trying to determine whether he purposefully rammed into the crowd, or if his erratic driving was due to his stabbing injuries. Charges are pending, and the investigation is ongoing.
