A man was wounded after being shot by a police officer this morning in Brooklyn.

The incident occurred around 7:15 a.m. at Lefferts and Rogers Avenues in Prospect Lefferts Gardens. The wounded man was taken to Kings County Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An NYPD spokesperson confirmed that the officer fired and was not injured. However, the officer is being treated for tinnitus.

The spokesperson added that a gun was found at the scene.

Update: Police say they were alerted to the scene when their Shotspotter technology notified them of gunfire at the intersection. The Daily News reports, "one lieutenant and two officers spotted Paul Mathurin in middle of the street 'menacing motorists.'" Police say that Mathurin waved his gun and refused to drop it, but a friend who was looking out the window says he was only holding his cellphone and headphones.
