The New York Yankees had a seven-game winning streak over the Baltimore Orioles broken last night in Camden Yards, falling to the Orioles, 13-2. Jon Lieber pitched poorly, giving up 11 hits and seven runs (five of them earned) in 3 2/3 innings. Lieber has not had a solid outing in a month and right now is embarrassed by his pitching. His pitches are finding to much of the plate, and his sinker is not sinking.
Erik Bedard and the Baltimore bullpen, led by newly acquired and former Yankee Jason Grimsley, held the Bronx Bombers to two runs and seven hits. Miguel Tejada led the way for the Orioles going 3-5 with four RBI.
The Yankees send Javier Vasquez (7-5, 3.43 ERA) to the mound tonight in the rubber game of the series against Sydney Ponson (3-9, 6.49). Ponson has been less than effective in his last two starts against the Yankees, giving up 15 runs in 10 1/3 innings. Tonight's game at Camden Yards starts at 7:05 pm.
