In a matchup we may see again in the playoffs, the Jets fell 17-6 to the league's hottest team in Pittsburgh. Gothamist can't help but like Steelers Jerome Bettis, who passed and ran for the game's only touchdowns, especially after claiming him off waivers early in the fantasy football season. Both he and Curtis Martin surpassed 13,000 career rushing yards on the evening.

The usually well-behaved Jets were penalized 12 times for 84 yards - astoundingly, all in the first half. Jets QB Chad Pennington (17-for-31, 189 yards, 0 TD, 3 INT) knew his performance was subpar, and said he blames only himself.

While the Patriots officially clinched the AFC East yesterday, the Jets still have a one game advantage for an AFC Wild Card spot over both Baltimore and Denver (both 8-5). Next up for Gang Green: a home date with the Seattle Seahwaks (7-6), who have generally underperformed to the pundits' expectations, but stand atop the NFC West anyway.
