Last night, NotifyNYC messaged, "Due to a sinkhole, the 96th St Transverse through Central Park in Manhattan is closed in both directions." What happened? Well, the DEP told MyFoxNY "that a catch basin on the side of the transverse that connects to a city sewer underneath failed, causing the sinkhole to open up. The DEP said a contractor would stay on the scene until the sinkhole is fixed, but it is not clear how long that would take." Unclear if this sinkhole will get its own Twitter, the way the Hoboken sinkhole has a Twitter account.
