All season long the Giants have benefited from flying under the city’s radar. Despite their 4-1 record, the Giants are not spectacular and New York has been distracted. The Yankees have been gagging all over themselves in a very public fashion. The Jets are undefeated and a zero in the loss column gets everybody all hot and bothered. With the undefeated Jets and Pats playing each other on Sunday, this week’s tilt against the Lions isn't exactly must-see t.v.
Thus far, Tiki Barber has been holding on to the ball and leads the N.F.C. in rushing, but another intriguing story has been the play of god loving and grocery bagging quarterback Kurt Warner. Warner has completed almost 65 percent of his passes and has thrown only one interception in 147 attempts. Although he’s thrown only three touchdowns, his consistency along with the strong play of the offensive line (Chris Snee turned out to be a stud) and the defense has this team winning games. Also look for Gothamist favorite Jamaar Taylor to get some burn for the injured Tim Carter.
The Giants were terrible coming out of the bye week under Jim Fassel, but this is Tom Coughlin’s team now and he continues to make changes. The Lions have been keeping their heads above water with smoke and mirrors and we at Gothamist believe that the Giants can cover a 6 and a half point spread with ease and we also feel that the over/under of 40.5 seems like a lot. Just so you know, we at Gothamist are 3-0 thus far against the spread. Just so you know.
